Deaf dog: Powder is a 9 week old Pitbull. She loves lots of attention, she likes to be really close to me. Her being deaf only made me love her more, and be alittle more over protective.

Town: Monahans, Texas
Deaf dog: Boyd is a 3 year old Boston Terrier. "Boyd is an energetic little man, loving, compassionate and caring toward his family. Not so nice with strangers, he loves our kids and protects his home. We adopted Boyd from some people who were going to put him to sleep because they couldn't control him, they never realized he was deaf. We took him, found out quickly he was, and have lived with him since in harmony. No control issues here."
Human companions: Sonia, James, K'ley, Tinka and Kat Grant
Other pets: A cat named Mister.

Town: Abilene, Texas
Deaf dog: Blue is a 6 month old Austalian Shepherd. "A friend had gotten Blue for his son, but the ex said no. We were looking for a friend for our heeler, Cammi, so we took Blue. We didn't know she was deaf for a couple of weeks, but I had my suspicions. She developed Parvo and we nursed her through it. I discussed the possibility of her being deaf with my vet and because of her coloring was told it was very likely. A friend that works at the vet has an older dog who has become deaf, so everyone was supportive. She is the sweetest dog. She and Cammi love to play and together they are digging up my backyard. Blue is a good balance to Cammi who is my hyper dog. Blue likes to sit in my lap or hang out on the couch. This summer we are going to get her into an obedience program. I found one that has experience with training deaf dogs. I'm using sign language with both of my dogs; it just seems to be practical that way."
Human companions: Beth & Skipper Hamaty and sons Ben, 18, Andrew, 15, and Josh, 11.
Other pets: Cammi, a Heeler; Toby and Little Bit, lazy cats.
