Deaf dog: Radar is a 10 month old Boxer. He came from a local kill shelter, his first mom and dad did not undersatand Boxers, let alone deaf Boxers. He was kept outside in a pen with no shelter and thank goodness when wheather started to change and got cold they decided to help him find another home and took him to the shelter. I being a Boxer junkie called right away and adopted him through the pawsative partners who did a home check and vet check and saw my first fat sassy couch potato and said Radar woukd do well here. He is a wonderful pup!!!

Deaf dog: Tasha is a one year old Australian Shepherd Mix. She was rescued from a shelter and after having her for a day I realized she was deaf. When taken to the vet I was informed she should be put to sleep due to this and I decided to get two more opinions so we now go to a vet in Grand Island which is about an hour from our home. She is a very happy playful dog. She now has another dog to play with. His name is Jack and he is an Alaskan Malamute rescue. Also has two cats to herd around. She is learning fast and is good at ignoring a person when trying to correct for something she has done wrong. Tasha has brought a new meaning into our lives and she is very special. Wish more people would feel that deaf dogs are good.
Human companions: Tammy & Lonnie Loseke
Other pets: Jack the Alaskan Malamute & Sam and Sylvester the cats.

Deaf dog: We actually don't have a name for our little one yet. He is a six month old Pekinese. A co-worker bought him from a kennel and no one knew he was deaf. When he determined he was deaf he got a new dog and they let us have the deaf one. I was in love with him by then. He does good with going potty outside. He loves to play and he also loves his doggy bed and small balls to run after.
Human companions: Jeanette and Troy Louderback
Other pets: Skipper, an 11 year old Miniature Schnauzer who has diabetes.

T-bone
T-bone
Town: Lincoln, Nebraska
Deaf dog: T-bone is a 7 month old Boston Terrier. "T-Bone is very friendly, loving, and full of energy. We got him from a private breeder in Crete, NE. My daughter picked him out because his markings were off (not to breed stantards) - she loves the underdogs. T-bone, still a puppy, was about 3-months old when we figured out he was deaf. So we're still in the early learning stages of training. We wouldn't give him up for anything!!! DDEAF has been a great big help for us, as well as the book "Living With A Deaf Dog". T-bone has brought our family closer, even with the short time he's been around."
Human companions: Paul Furman and 10-year-old daughter Amber

Town: Pickrell, Nebraska
Deaf dog: Valentine is a 2 year old Great Dane. "My dog came from a home where they decided that she was too big and too deaf to be safe around their soon to be born baby. They were going to put her to sleep because she was not perfect. The truth is, she's perfect just the way she is. Valentine is not too big and her deafness does not hamper her in any way. Valentine loves children and seems to endure their screeching better than any of my other dogs that can hear. She is so smart that she can open any door in my house and the gate. I often feel like I now live in a maximum security prison due to the number of latches, locks, ties, cords, etc. that I use to secure things that she should not open. Valentine has no problems "hearing" because her 5 other doggie friends all help to let her know what exactly is going on. I would definitely adopt another deaf dog in the future."
Human companions: Amber and Jeff McConkey
Other pets: Dagon, Collie; Dalos, Blue Heeler; Gheist, Great Dane; Shub, Great Dane; and Tink, Saint Bernard.
