She is a normal active pup who uses her senses of sight, smell, touch and taste just like any other pup. And because she can't hear, she uses visual cues to keep track of everything and everyone. Deaf dog: Harley is an 8 yr old Australian Shepherd who makes us laugh everyday! She is a ripper, a very active, fun dog with many talents. Her favorite sport is downhill/freeride mountain biking. Other intersts, backcountry skiing, hiking. Harley has ridden in many Helicopters, snowcats, skidoos and big trucks, her fav being the helicopters...big windows and what a view! Harley also loves playing the "fetch" sports, anything that can be thrown...should be thrown! Frisbee, stick, ball...she loves pushing her mini basketball at high velocities back to you! At home, Harley has an assortment of stuffed animals: tiger, dragon, baby Simba, a colllection of balls, most of which get behind the sofa....what Harley likes most about indoor fetch is the challenge of finding the toys we have hidden. She loves it when her favorite people come home, where she greets you with smiles, snorts and songs! Various neighborhood friends often come over for cookies (or to steal toys) except for her shy boyfriend Ray, next door. Sorry boys! :).

He was going to be put down because of his deafness and my daughter and I decided that he was too cute and kept him. Gruden got his name because were big football fans and Gruden's colours are black, white and silver just like the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders coach at the time was Jon Gruden(thus the name). He's a goofy dog who gets along with everyone and everybody. He also loves to play with the cats. Gruden is a very intelligent dog. Taz
Town: Fernie, British Columbia
Deaf dog: Taz was rescued from the Cranbrook SPCA at 6 years of age. We rescued Taz because we felt sorry for him. Taz had been abused, was scared and showed signs of aggression towards strangers and we felt that the typical types of people wanting a Dalmatian would not be willing to rescue him and that he would end up being put down. Taz has since enjoyed life with our other rescued Dalmatian Daisy and our Chocolate Lab Muddy. He is allowed off leash in most safe areas as he stays close and checks back often. We have just begun training with a vibrating collar in case he goes too far. Taz has successfully completed Novice agility and enjoys his tennis ball. Taz is still protective of our yard but is getting better with strangers. Taz is a really sweet dog with the people he knows and trusts, and we hope that with positive training he will only get better. We are so happy that we gave Taz a chance.
Human companions: Kim and Rick
Animal companions: Daisy (Dalmatian), Muddy (Chocolate Lab) Minoue (Cat)
