Geordie
Geordie
Town: Alice Springs, Northern Territory
Deaf dog: Geordie is a Border Collie. "Geordie is a joy to have in my life. The breeder suspected he had a hearing problem, but it was very difficult to confirm as his ears looked perfect internally and he showed no obvious signs of deafness at 10 weeks when I first saw him. I decided to take Goerdie as he was so outgoing and happy, we bonded from the minute we met. He has been no harder to train than a hearing dog and he learns so quickly from his older mate, Finn. He is 6 months old at present and sits, drops, stands, and is starting to heel beautifully. I am working on a very reliable re-call to ensure he is safe in any situation. I intend to Trial in Obedience and Agility. He is very social with other dogs and humans. I have only recently told friends at Dog Club that he cannot hear and they were quite surprised, being totally unaware as they have interacted with him. I am so grateful the breeder decided mine was the special home he needed."
