Camera Shy
Town: Boise, Idaho
Deaf dog: Harley is a 7 month old Great Pyrenees. I rescued Harley from a very bad place. He was sold but brought back because he was deaf. If he didn't get a home right away he was going to be put to sleep. He was a very sick puppy when I brought him home (at 3 months). It took a lot of time and tlc but he is now very healthy. I tried to find him a home after I took him from the bad place but could not find anybody interested so he joined my family including my three other dogs :) Harley is a very sweet and loveable puppy and I wouldn't give him up for anything!

She just wants to be loved."

Town: Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
Deaf dog: Chance is a 4 year old Great Pyrenes/Australian Shepherd mix. "Chance is the best of both breeds. He weighs about 82 pounds and is georgeous (that's what everyone who sees him says). He has trained as easily as any other dog I've had and most people never guess that he's deaf! I got him when he was 9 weeks old and 20 minutes from euthanasia. He is one of the most wonderful dogs I've ever had."
Human companions: Linda Kincaid
Other pets: Spanky Lou and Rasta his fur-sisters

Chance
Chance
Town: Spirit Lake, Idaho
Deaf dog: Chance is a 4 year old AmStaff/Boxer/AmBulldog. "Chance's previous owners adopted him from the Humane Society at 6 months old and were unaware that he was deaf. They wanted a family dog they could take off leash hiking, etc. and told me they were going to take Chance back because he was deaf. He was such a sweet, gentle boy, I had to adopt him. Intially he wasn't house trained but other than that, the only problem has been separation anxiety. He has actually broken out windows when left alone and required stitches after getting stuck trying to escape from his kennel. We got through it but it lessened substantially when I got married and he gained the the companionship of another dog. I still talk verbally to him and use signs on the other animals out of habit. I love Chance and would not hesitate to adopt another deaf dog in the future."
Human companions: Lisa & Eddie Archer and kids, Josh & Jake
Other pets: Champ, 2 year old Lab/Mastiff; Nickie and Paris, 8 month old kittens; Mama, 11 year old cat.
